Shawn Porter

Event host/creator Shawn Porter lives in Philadelphia with his girlfriend Soozie and their beta fish Mastah.

He has two scarification pieces- a small wrist cutting by the legendary Keith Alexander, (who passed away in 2005) and a facial cutting by Brian Decker.

From 1995 to 2005, Shawn edited the "spcOnline" website- The site's primary focus was on heavier modification, but it was also a full-spectrum site. It delved into history and contained profiles on a number of significant figures in the body modification world. SPC was instrumental in the launch of BME/Extreme, and Shawn helped write most of the early extreme body modification FAQs for BME, and has continued to work with BME on a variety of fronts. The SPC site is currently offline, but will return asap.

In 1998, Shawn co-created the MODCON events with BME's Shannon Larratt. In 2004 he created the Scarwars "project" to encourage communication within the Cutting/Branding communities, giving Scarification artists a chance to meet up, discuss technique and tricks, and work on collaborative pieces in a social atmosphere.. and in the process created the world's first Scarification Convention.

With the help of his partner Soozie, he's already hard at work with event planning for Scarwars3, which is to be held in Philadelphia PA in October 2007.
When not organizing events (including his yearly Halloween "Zombiethon" bash) Shawn watches dvds, plays with action figures and reads comic books.
